Life needs to be more chill. It's a fact, one that comedian Janelle James is more than happy to remind us of. Part of that is appreciating what you have while you have it, and not dwelling on it when it's gone, which James talks about on "Formerly Hot." It's a cut from her debut album, Black and Mild, which is out on Sept. 29 on Audible Comedy on pretty much all major streaming and download sites. You might recognize James from her appearances on @Midnight and Night Train with Wyatt Cenac, or from opening slots on Chris Rock's current Total Blackout Tour 2017. Take a listen to "Formerly Hot" above, and if you're in New York you can check out her album release show at the Knitting Factory on Oct. 9.
