Trevor Noah has gotten a great bit of material for The Daily Show from the travesty that is Donald Trump this season. Wednesday night, the host decided to try to decode Trump’s inflammatory statement calling for “Second Amendment people” to “do something” about Hillary Clinton.

“Hillary wants to abolish, essentially abolish, the Second Amendment. By the way, if she gets to pick her judges … nothing you can do, folks. Although the Second Amendment people, maybe there is. I don’t know,” Trump said on Monday, spurring endless conversation about what exactly he meant. Was it a call to vote? Or was it … (cringe) ... a call for his gun-toting supporters to take aim at his opponent?

Noah played a round of clips of reporters and experts trying to make sense of the comment, with some saying it was a threat over Hillary’s life and some blowing it off as a joke, then deems the situation “the dress all over again.” He pulls up a picture of that damned gold and white dress (or blue and black, but it’s white and gold in his picture. Right?!) and reminisces on a time when the colors of that dress divided families.

“I believe Donald Trump was making a joke,” said Noah. “ ... I know a joke when I see one. But more importantly, I know a stand-up comedian when I see one … Donald Trump is a stand-up comedian. You see it every time he’s on the stage. He riffs, he roasts, he does some impersonations, he’s a stand-up comedian.”

After playing a compilation video of all of Trump’s jokes this political season—many pointed at “sweaty” Mark Rubio—it makes sense. Especially when you intercut Trumps “Second Amendment” comment with footage of a theater of laughing people, which Noah does.

He points out that the biggest problem with Trump’s cavalier behavior is that while he’s laughing, his supporters are taking him seriously. When Trump said to his supporters at a rally, “if you see somebody getting ready to throw a tomato, knock the crap out of them,” a story followed shortly about a protester getting punched by a supporter.

“When you’re a presidential candidate with a passionate group of supporters, people tend to listen to you,” Noah said. “So here’s what I think we should do to Donald Trump. We need to put him away. Put him away in some underground, windowless room. Then, we need to build a wall—an exposed brick wall, with a mic and a crowd, where he can kill. Just not people. You know what? I think if that wall kept him focus on comedy and not the White House, I think that’s a wall Mexico would pay for.”
