Art elevates food and food elevates art. Perfect example: Parisian artist Lor-K is turning old, abandoned mattresses and sheets from dumpsters into food sculptures. The series, titled Eat Me, features giant sculptures of favorite foods, from kabobs to burritos, repurposed from discarded mattresses and sheets, spray paint, sewing equipment and tape.
“Depending on the location and the inspiration I get from it, I then decide what meal I’m going to cook,” said Lor-K to Fast Company. “I prepare my recipe on location.”
Each “dish” takes two to six hours to create. So far, 10 different sculptures are featured in her Eat Me collection.
“As with all my projects, my main goal is to attract the attention of passersby on the waste littering the sidewalks of our cities,” said Lor-K. “I wish to highlight their potential.”
