With such mainstream pop culture success surrounding both Game of Thrones and Tim Burton, it’s not surprising to see artists inspired by the show’s themes or the director’s visual overtones. Artist Xenia Rassolova’s mashup of Burton’s exaggerated, gothic style and GoT’s dark fantasy, however, offers fans a unique aesthetic twist we didn’t know we needed.
Rassolova, an animation student from Canada, has re-imagined some of Game of Thrones’ most well-known characters in the sunken, slim and stripped style of Burton. That includes Sansa Stark and Jon Snow, along with the Iron Throne and Daenerys, the Mother of Dragons.
Check out the gallery above to fully appreciate Rossolova’s stylistic tribute that magnifies the TV series’ haunting aura of graveness, death and darkened beauty. With the sixth season of Game of Thrones right around the corner and Burton’s Alice Through the Looking Glass right behind it, this artistic crossover is a timely bit of appreciation.
