A few months ago we ranked the first few sets of Star Wars characters released for Disney Infinity 3.0. Four new characters from Star Wars: The Force Awakens were released on 12/18, along with a play set based on the new movie and four power discs. Also, Darth Maul was released as a stand-alone figure in November. With these five additions, we realized it was time to update our rankings. As we wrote in our original rankings, the models are largely excellent, and there’s a nice variety of play styles between the characters, which are almost equally divided between Jedis and those who can’t use the Force. That’s more true than ever with these new additions.

Unranked: Boba Fett. Yep: Boba's still unavailable for those who didn't buy a PlayStation bundle. Everybody's favorite bounty hunter will be officially released for everybody at some point in 2016, and until then we probably won't have an opportunity to try him out within the game.

18. Ezra Bridger: Perhaps it's my old guy bias, but the Jedis from the Rebels line don't have the aesthetic appeal of some of the older characters in the line. Ezra here has a bit of a generic look, with only the unique light saber handle really standing out. He's fallen below Kanan Jarrus in this ranking to hit the bottom.

17. Poe Dameron: This figure captures that cocksure confidence Oscar Isaac brings to the role, and his special move is adorable, with BB-8 rolling on-screen to distract the bad guys. Other than that Dameron is fairly nondescript, just another guy with a blaster shooting stuff up.

16. Kanan Jarrus: Kanan Jarrus was at the bottom of our first rankings because, as I wrote at the time, he was a generic Jedi that looked and felt a bit like an afterthought. He's jumped up a couple of slots because I've realized how great his finisher is. I'm not talking about his special move (aka purple attack), but the finisher he can trigger at the end of a melee combo, where he hurls an enemy into the air with the Force and then juggles them with blaster shots. It's a useful move that looks cool and gives a bit of character to an otherwise mundane character.

15. Chewbacca: Of course we love Chewie, but a couple of things knock him down a bit in these rankings. Despite not being a real person, he somehow struggles the most, visually, with being turned into an Infinity character. The bigger, rounder eyes look far more out of place on his furry mug than with the human characters. And although he's a powerful fighter in the game, his attacks and combos are pretty slow, to the point where it's not always fun to play as him.

14. Rey: The only reason Rey is so low is because her skill set seems unfinished. It's like the designers of Disney Infinity only watched the first half of The Force Awakens. She doesn't wield a lightsaber or use the Force, and her special move only hits one enemy and is easy to miss. Even the figure is somewhat underwhelming, with no sense of dynamism.

13. Obi-Wan Kenobi. It's a tough call from here. Obi-Wan's so low in part because of the weird stance his statue is in. That just looks really uncomfortable. All the Jedi control fairly similarly within the game, so he doesn't really stand out as a playable character. He still has the best beard in the galaxy, though, and that's good for something.

12. Han Solo: Han will probably be every dad's favorite character to play for sentimental reasons, but he suffers from the same problem as the other non-Jedi characters: shooting a gun just isn't as fun as slicing through enemies or using the Force. Plus his figurine sort of looks like it's doing that Dreamworks smirk. Thankfully the writing in the Rise of the Empire play-set gives him some good, Solo-level one-liners.

11. Anakin Skywalker: The always controversial Anakin cuts an imposing figure with his scar and all-black ensemble. His dynamic pose even recalls that of his son, Luke, with the light saber tilted similarly but in the opposite direction. The game doesn't entirely focus on his rage or brutality, which might be a missed opportunity. If he had a skill that hinted at his fate, he could be a few slots higher.

10. Kylo Ren: The would-be Sith lord has one of the best poses of any figure in the line, the dramatic billow his cape echoing Darth Vader. His play style is similar to Vader's and Darth Maul's, but he feels just a little bit slower and a little bit less powerful. At least his special move looks neat: he freezes enemies in place for a few seconds, with bits of rock and dirt from the ground blowing up around them.
