Ninja Theory took great care to present Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice in a way that positively represents and promotes the struggles associated with mental illness. That approach has cultivated a relationship between communities and organizations that strive to educate others about mental health and the developers themselves, which is now coming full circle ahead of the game’s Xbox One release.
Ninja Theory announced via Twitter on Tuesday that they intend to donate up to $50,000 to Mental Health America. The amount donated is tied to the first week sales figures of the game during its Xbox One launch, with 50,000 sales garnering a $25,000 donation and 100,000 sales resulting in a $50,000 donation.
The prospect of the team reaching their ultimate goal isn’t an immediate lock, but the fact that Hellblade has already topped 500,000 in sales and multiple Twitter users have tweeted out images of their preorders gives plenty of confidence to them having a good shot.
Hellblade: Senua’s Sacrifice launches on Xbox One on Wednesday, April 11.
