When Paste’s staff returned from our staff vacation (we all had a good time) we found almost a dozen packages waiting for us on our doorstep. The smallest but most promising box of all was a small white number that was just about the size of a self-respecting cookbook. We weren’t sure what was inside, so like we do with everything that comes in the mail we grabbed our camera and started taking photographs. Turns out that’s a good policy to have: we were able to capture these real-time, in-progress shots of the complicated (but exciting) process of opening a box with a NES Classic Edition in it.
The NES Classic Edition, of course, is the tiny little toy console that plugs directly into your TV and lets you play 30 games from the original Nintendo Entertainment System. Those 30 games run directly from the device itself—no cartridges are needed or supported. The Classic Edition is designed to look like a miniature NES, with that familiar grey and black color scheme, a little impression where the old flip door would be, and a controller that looks and feels exactly like the original NES joypad. It promises to be a hard thing to track down when it’s released on November 11, so if you’re wondering what the Classic Edition will actually look like, take a look at these photos we snapped while digging through that box. And check back later this week for more on the NES Classic Edition.
Here are the games loaded on the Classic Edition:
Balloon Fight
Bubble Bobble
Castlevania
Castlevania II: Simon’s Quest
Donkey Kong
Donkey Kong Jr.
Double Dragon II: The Revenge
