Today, Atlanta unleashed its inner geek.
Roughly 40,000 were expected for the 10th annual Dragon*Con festival, and 3,200 of them dressed up for the mile-long parade. Nearly every imaginable sci-fi/fantasy universe was accounted for, from the Browncoats of Firefly to brown-coated Doctors Who. And these were not thrown-together costumes. Two eight-foot-tall Chewbaccas lumbered up past a crowd packed four-or-five-deep along the route. Multiple Ghostbuster cars and Representatives of True Blood’s Light of Day Institute marched with signs like “God Hates Fangs” and “Where’s Buffy When You Need Her?” They only had to wait for the Joss Whedon section of the parade with plenty of vamps and slayers. Here are 25 of our favorite costumes, floats and vehicles.
