These Salad Cakes Make Eating Sweet Feel Guilt Free

Vegedeco Salad Cafe in Nagoya, Japan has found an ingenious way to get people to eat their vegetables. The restaurant has created beautifully decorated cakes, completely made out of vegetables.

The salad cakes, named “Vegedeco Salad”, have a base made of soy flour and “frosting” made from tofu. The cakes are filled and decorated with different assorted cooked vegetables, such as daikons and radishes.

The inventor of the salad cake, Misuki Moriyasu, invented the dessert-alternative back in 2015, and since then the cakes have become a hit in Japan. Moriyasu now has more than 50 different designs, each one taking about an hour to make. All of the cakes are gluten-free, sugar-free and vegan.

“It looks like a normal cake—but it’s made of only veggies. You can have it for breakfast, lunch —and it’s very suitable for dinner with wine,” Moriyasu told CNN.
