Mark Duplass and Sarah Paulson are just too talented. The pair have both starred in their fair share of critical smashes on television, from Duplass’ Togetherness to Paulson’s The People v. O.J. Simpson. Now, their formidable skills have been united for Blue Jay, a Netflix film that Duplass also co-wrote.
In the first trailer, we see former high-school sweethearts Duplass and Paulson run into each other and embark on a reunion tour of sorts. The pair do their fair share of walking and talking before returning to Duplass’ home for dinner and maybe a little dancing.
Shot in gorgeous black and white, the film looks to be an intimate character piece that relies heavily on the talents of its leads, and perhaps a return of some sort to Duplass’ mumblecore roots. If that turns out to be the case, Paulson and Duplass are a perfect pair.
Blue Jay is produced by Mark Duplass and his brother Jay. The film is the first of four pictures that Duplass is planning to make with Netflix. It will be released in theaters on Oct. 7, and will head to Netflix at some point later this year.
