In some ways, Free Fire looks like something of a departure for Brie Larson. In other ways, though, it is strangely familiar. The film, which has just debuted its first trailer, is set inside a single warehouse that looks to be a little bigger than the room Larson found herself trapped in in Room. This warehouse also looks to be a lot more violent than what she may have encountered in that film.

Directed by Ben Wheatley and executive-produced by Martin Scorsese, Free Fire gives audiences a taste of what would happen if arms dealers and their customers were locked in a warehouse together. Joining Larson in the fray are Armie Hammer’s negotiator Ord and Cillian Murphy’s Chris, an Irish Republican Army man.

The film, which debuted in Toronto on Thursday, promises to bring a great deal of mayhem and gunfire to the screen. Free Fire is set in 1978, and it looks to tap into the feeling of B-movies from that era. The trailer also brings to mind Tarantino’s debut, Reservoir Dogs, a film that also placed great emphasis on guns and a warehouse.

This time around, though, there’s a lady involved. Free Fire looks like the kind of movie you can’t take children to, but maybe that’s not the worst thing in the world. While you wait indefinitely for this film’s madness to infect your life (Free Fire doesn’t have an official release date yet), check out the full trailer above.
