New Edgar Wright Horror Flick Last Night in Soho Starts Shooting

Edgar Wright has just launched into production on his seventh big-screen endeavor, Last Night in Soho.

First announced in January, Last Night in Soho is Wright’s follow-up to 2017’s Oscar-nominated hit Baby Driver. The film promises to delve into psychological horror territory, depths into which Wright, the director behind Scott Pilgrim vs. the World and Shaun of the Dead, has never ventured.

Wright is decidedly stepping away from his comedic-action roots for the horror/thriller set in the heart of London.

While plot details are still lacking, Wright compares it to movies like Don’t Look Now and Repulsion.

Wright announced that cameras were rolling in a clapperboard shot shared on his Instagram.

The shot also reveals that the film’s cinematographer is none other than Chung-hoon Chung, of Oldboy and The Handmaiden fame. This is the first time Chung and Wright have teamed up.

The duo is joined by Penny Dreadful writer Krysty Wilson-Cairns, who co-wrote the movie with Wright, and leading lady and resident scream queen Anya Taylor-Joy (The Witch, Split). Matt Smith from Doctor Who and Leave No Trace’s Thomasin McKenzie round out the film’s quality cast.

Film4 Productions, producing the film with Focus Features and Working Title, has also revealed the film’s neon logo, perfectly matching the London Soho aesthetic.
