Though J.J. Abrams has hopped off the Millennium Falcon of hype that was Star Wars: The Force Awakens, transitioning into the executive producer’s chair for Rian Johnson’s Star Wars: Episode VIII, his presence is still strong in the galaxy far, far away.

During the director’s current press tour for the third Star Trek film, he sat down with Collider for a brief interview. During that chat, interviewer Steve Weintraub asked the director which Star Wars anthology film he would like to see after this December’s Rogue One and the forthcoming young Han Solo film.

While the director complimented Lucasfilm CEO Kathy Kennedy’s choices, he admitted to having one extremely specific idea: “I gotta say Kathy Kennedy, who’s running it all, she seems to be pushing all the right buttons. There isn’t something that I’d love to see—I guess the one thing I would say is there’s a Knights of Ren story that I think would be pretty cool to tell.”

The Knights of Ren are, of course, the mysterious organization that Force Awakens antagonist Kylo Ren (Adam Driver) joined to receive that surname, rather than the one he once shared with his father. The Knights aren’t spoken of much in the film and are only seen briefly during Rey’s vision scene.

Abrams’ statement is in no way committal, but it certainly is intriguing. He was rumored to direct Episode IX before Jurassic World director Colin Trevorrow signed on last September.

Abrams is probably only a few Jedi mind tricks away from sitting back in the director’s chair if he really wanted to, and given Lucasfilm’s current Star Wars release schedule, fans certainly wouldn’t balk at learning more about the current disturbance in the Force.
