The last trailer for Jurassic World has arrived and it’s welcoming you to the prehistoric theme park before the island is shut down for renovations indefinitely. There are little ways we could think to better spend our time than to be chased by artificially intelligent dinosaurs with built-in serial killer instincts. The new trailer has plenty to offer. We’re given a look into the functioning dinosaur theme park where the technological prowess and contained environment have led to a safe getaway for visitors looking for a vacation. But when those viewers stop showing up, it’s up to the staff to create a monumental screw-up that will turn the attractions loose once again.
For the last tease before the movie opens later this summer, viewers are finally treated to a (brief) look as the Indominus Rex. Alongside the charming Chris Pratt, a crew of raptor-hunting employees are tasked with stopping the creature and leading all the island’s inhabitants to safety. It’s all part of the day-to-day activities that come with working with genetically-modified dinosaurs at an isolated theme park resort.
There has been a little bit of controversy as of late prior to the film’s release. After a few choice words from Avengers director Joss Whedon calling the film “70s era sexist” in its depiction of Bryce Dallas Howard’s character, there have been some complaints surrounding her character, who serves as Chris Pratt’s boss and potential love interest. But the trailer doesn’t back away from those accusations, decidedly featuring the controversial scene at the very beginning as a moment of intended comic relief. But whether viewers continue to believe that the film has sexist intentions, we can all agree that it’s aiming to be a high-octane thrill ride during the busiest time of the year at the movies.
Jurassic World officially opens for business on June 12.
