New on Netflix: All the Movies and TV Coming in March

This is a big week for Netflix, who very well may walk away from this upcoming weekend’s 91st Academy Awards with a fistful of big additions to its trophy case. However, for now, it’s business as usual for the alpha-dog streamer, who’s rolling out a red carpet of their own for a new batch of film and television titles. Here’s our snapshot of March.

On the feature film side, Netflix’s arguable March highlight is A Clockwork Orange (Mar. 1), Stanley Kubrick’s iconic adaptation of Anthony Burgess’ 1962 dystopian novel of the same name. That title arrives on the first of the month alongside many others of note, including Ron Howard’s Oscar-winning moon mission thriller Apollo 13, Ang Lee martial arts masterpiece Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, cult summer camp comedy Wet Hot American Summer, Kathryn Bigelow’s Best Picture-winning Iraq War thriller The Hurt Locker, Tim Burton’s 2007 adaptation of Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, early-2000s romantic epic The Notebook, Debra Granik’s Jennifer Lawrence-led Winter’s Bone, acclaimed 2008 rom-com Nick and Norah’s Infinite Playlist, M. Night Shyamalan-penned (!) animated adventure Stuart Little and, last but by no means least, the directorial debut of Oscar-nominated actor Chiwetel Ejiofor, The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind. Following those films later in the month are Disney’s Christopher Robin (March 5), John Patrick Shanley’s knockout stage adaptation Doubt (March 7), Cate Blanchett-starring drama Blue Jasmine (March 8), Alfre Woodard-led Netflix original Juanita (March 8), J.C. Chandor’s star-studded heist thriller Triple Frontier (March 13), Asghar Farhadi’s Oscar-winning 2011 drama A Separation (March 15), Stephen Chow-directed martial arts comedy Kung Fu Hustle (March 15), Netflix’s Motley Crue biopic The Dirt (March 22), Kevin Costner- and Woody Harrelson-starring crime drama The Highwaymen (March 29) and underrated horror-comedy Tucker and Dale vs. Evil (March 29), among others.

Netflix has plenty for viewers to look forward to on the TV and comedy side, including one original series installment that remains undated: the second season of teen dramedy On My Block, one of Paste’s best new shows of 2018. The streamer’s dated offerings are plentiful, including Patriot Act with Hasan Minhaj: Volume 2, the standout talk show hosted by its titular Daily Show alum, new episodes of which stream each Sunday starting on March 3. Multiple new Netflix originals arrive on March 8, including After Life, starring Ricky Gervais as a writer whose personality is transformed by the sudden death of his wife—and speaking of catty English comedians, Jimmy Carr: The Best of Ultimate Gold Greatest Hits arrives on March 12, in which Carr presents “a selection of his very best jokes,” per Netflix. March 15, meanwhile, is one of the biggest days of the month for the streamer, as it brings about season five, part two of Arrested Development, David Fincher and Tim Miller’s deranged-looking animated sci-fi anthology Love, Death & Robots, season three of beloved lifestyle series Queer Eye and the debut of Idris Elba-starring comedy series Turn Up Charlie, among other new titles. Moving into the latter half of March, we get two new comedy specials, Amy Schumer Growing (March 19) and Nate Bargatze: The Tennessee Kid (March 26), followed by the third season of acclaimed dark comedy Santa Clarita Diet (March 29), the fifth season of ABC hit How to Get Away with Murder (March 30) and, wrapping up the month, the return of cult comedy series Trailer Park Boys for a 13th season, but with a twist: This time, it’s Trailer Park Boys: The Animated Series (March 31). And in one puzzling bit of miscellany, Netflix apparently has podcasts now—March titles include Human Algorithm, I’m Obsessed with This, The Strong Black Lead Podcast: Strong Black Legends and You Can’t Make This Up—because why the hell not?

We’d be remiss not to mention what’s leaving Netflix next month, as well: not all that much of consequence. The original first two Ghostbusters films, ‘80s teen classic The Breakfast Club, Joel Edgerton’s acclaimed 2015 thriller The Gift and Oscar-nominated Paul Greengrass film United 93 disappear from Netflix’s library on March 1, followed by Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End (March 4), Click (March 8), Role Models (March 16) and Disney’s Beauty and the Beast (March 18), to name a few.
