Straight Outta Compton’s Corey Hawkins will play the role of Eric Carter in the new 24 reboot, 24: Legacy. Carter is also known for his ongoing role as Heath on The Walking Dead.
When Fox officially announced Legacy, they gave a background to Hawkins’ character. Military hero Eric Carter returns back home to the United States and ends up turning to the Counter Terrorist Unit to save his life, before being enlisted to help prevent a terrorist attack on the U.S.
Fox’ CEO and co-chairman, Dana Walden, described Legacy as “a contemporary story about the potential to activate sleeper cells in the US.” Although old CTU agents are mentioned, they are not ongoing characters.
Only the pilot has been ordered to be released, so there is a possibility that Legacy won’t be a full series. 24’s producers and writers Howard Gordon, Manny Coto and Evan Katz are all signed to be executive producers for the reboot.
Kiefer Sutherland, who played Jack Bauer in the original, won’t be appearing in Legacy, but he could end up in a producer role.
