Manny Jacinto Joins Stacked Top Gun: Maverick Cast

Manny Jacinto has joined the stacked cast of Top Gun: Maverick, the forthcoming 2020 sequel to the 1986 Tom Cruise-starring hit, per Deadline.

The announcement comes just after Thursday night’s season three premiere of The Good Place, the cult-favorite NBC sitcom on which Jacinto plays breakout lovable dummy Jason Mendoza. It’s an exciting time to be Jacinto, as he will also appear in the 20th Century Fox film Bad Times at the El Royale, which arrives in theaters next weekend. The Filipino-Canadian actor has also appeared on CBC’s The Romeo Section and CBS’ hit series The Good Doctor.

Jacinto joins an already-impressive cast that includes returning stars Cruise and Val Kilmer, in addition to newcomers Jennifer Connelly, Ed Harris, Jon Hamm, Monica Barbaro, Miles Teller and Glen Powell.

All we know so far about Jacinto’s role so far is that he will play Fritz, a pilot. He’ll likely be one of the pilot compatriots of Teller’s Bradley Bradshaw, who, in the forthcoming sequel, will be the protégé of Cruise’s Maverick, who’s expected to now be an instructor at the Top Gun school, and whose late father was Goose, played in the original by Anthony Edwards.

We’ll likely get more details as the release of Top Gun: Maverick gets closer, but for now, at least we know for certain that Jacinto has big things headed his way.

Top Gun: Maverick lands in theaters on June 26, 2020. See a first-look photo from the film here.
