In support of 2015’s New Love, singer-songwriter Allison Weiss has released an empowering new video for “Back To Me.” The Clay Tatum-directed clip, which Paste can exclusively share today, follows Weiss through a series of unpopular live performances until she ultimately decides to perform alone, coinciding with her overarching message of acceptance and self-reliance.

“I love/hate that pop music makes you feel like everything is going to be okay,” Weiss said in a press release. “In my song, the narrator is ready to give up hope when suddenly a song comes on the radio that makes them believe again.” “Back To Me” itself is an uplifting rush of synths, humanized by Weiss’ buoyantly hopeful vocals.

Earlier this year, Weiss and Kristin Russo, of Everyone Is Gay, joined forces to establish OUR Restroom, a non-profit that works to institute gender-neutral bathrooms in local businesses. They offer their services free of charge, educating and informing businesses on how converting bathroom signage is a simple, yet crucial, way to make all customers feel welcome. Donations fund the time and resources required to solicit local businesses, including updating signage and creating pamphlets to inform owners.

Supported by Josiah and the Bonnevilles and Thin Lips, Weiss will embark on her fall headlining “Crying at the Party” tour on Thursday, Sept. 15.
