Over the course of three albums, lo-fi Brooklyn collective Beach Fossils have evolved their subtle mesh of shimmering guitars and svelte melodies that burrow deeper with each listen—songs whose benign exteriors function as trojan horses of addictive songcraft. Recent album Somersault cemented the dreamy, reverb-drenched trio’s signature sound, boasting some of the most mellow and clever gems in their oeuvre. Photographer Autumn Andel joined the band for their performance at Portland’s Holocene venue last week, capturing the skateboard ollies, lunching (joined by Wild Nothing’s Jeff Haley) and show in the gallery above. Also: some damn cute photos of vocalist Dustin Payseur with his parents, who were vacationing at the time. Beach Fossils are currently touring in the U.S. with future dates in Europe.
