Beirut Announce Vinyl Reissues of First Three Albums

Sante Fe collective Beirut have announced vinyl reissues of their first three albums, set to hit shelves Aug. 30.

Gulag Orkestar, The Flying Club Cup and The Rip Tide, all of which are currently being sold for upwards of $50 on vinyl resale websites, will be reissued with new visual directions curated by Rob Carmichael of SEEN Studio, whose previous clients include Jay Som, Real Estate and Dirty Projectors.

The reissue artwork for Gulag Orkestar and The Rip-Tide sticks close to the originally released artwork, but Carmichael gave The Flying Club Cup a complete facelift, reimagining it as “an Art Deco-ish take on Victorian photography,” as he wrote in an Instagram post.

NEW WORK: we helped our longtime friends @beirutband update their first three records for rerelease. Gulag Orkestar and The Rip-Tide stick pretty close to the original released. But The Flying Club Cup packaging has been totally reimagined as an Art Deco-ish take on Victorian photography. With some other things thrown in. It’s not often one is asked to take an entirely new visual direction for a record that already exists — it was fun to think of a whole new way to help (re)present this album.

All three reissues, which range in price between $20.98 and $22.98, are available for preorder on the band’s website.

Beirut released their fifth studio album Gallipoli last year, with their latest music video “When I Die” arriving in April.
