Last Sunday, Grateful Dead founding member and jam-band/Americana icon Bob Weir celebrated his 69th birthday at the Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, NY. Currently in the middle of his “Campfire Tour” in support of the September LP, Blue Mountain, Weir was joined by his backing band (the best backing band?) consisting of The National guitarist Bryce Dessner and percussionist Bryan Devendorf as well as Steve Kimock, Jon Shaw, Josh Kaufman and Leslie Mendelson, among others. Birthday aside, it’s proving to be a banner year for Weir as he was awarded The Lifetime Achievement Performer Award at The Americana Honors & Award Show last month. Photographer Adam McCullough caught last Sunday’s celebration in the gallery above.
