BTS Announce Map of the Soul: 7, Follow-Up to Last Year's Map of the Soul: Persona

Certified superstars BTS have announced the follow-up to last year’s Map of the Soul: Persona EP, titled Map of the Soul: 7, via “BTS Weverse,” an official mobile fan community for BTS stans (otherwise known as ARMYs). 7 is set for release via Big Hit Entertainment on Feb. 21, just 10 months after their record-breaking Persona. The band currently holds 10 Guinness World Records.

Persona, which sold 3.2 million units in just a month, became the best-selling album in South Korea, a record that had previously been held since 1995. The music video for “Boy With Luv,” Persona’s lead single, is currently the record holder for most views on an online music video in 24 hours, garnering 74.6 million on the day it debuted. The song, featuring Halsey, features funk and disco influences not as endemic to the realm of K-Pop. 7 is sure to further redefine the genre.

The group recently performed in Times Square for ABC’S Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve. See a clip of their performance below. Preorders for Map of the Soul: 7 begin Jan. 9.
