With its second and final evening, KROQ’s Almost Acoustic Christmas offered a microcosm of the best alt-rock touring shows of 2016. If day one leaned a hair into bands that at one time defined emo with Jimmy Eat World, AFI and Blink 182, last Sunday embraced full mainstream stadium bombast. Phantogram brought the electro-serrated blues of latest album Three, Green Day leaned into the big power chord anthems of Revolution Radio and Beck swept through his entire discography of freaky folk singalongs. Andrew McMahon, Bishop Briggs, Bastille and The Head and The Heart rounded out the sold-out show at The Forum. And a KROQ show without Weezer almost feels like heresy. Check out Amy Harris’ pictures from the night in the gallery above.
