It’s been nearly two years since one of New York’s hip-hop cornerstones, Le1f, released their album Riot Boi, and finally we have a music video for “Umami/Water”—and it is worth the wait.
The first part of the video is set to “Umami,” and features Le1f in a statement jacket that is a goddamn look. A recent trend-spotting post from The New York Times listed puffer jackets of all shapes and sizes, most notable from designer Philipp Plein. The Times isn’t wrong, but perhaps they are a little late: clearly, Le1f was ahead of the fashion curve.
The second part of the video is Le1f’s ode to water. Clad in a gorgeous white veil reminiscent of Alessandro Trincone’s VFILES Spring 2017 Ready-to-Wear, they dance ethereally framed between dark-black ground and mediterranean blue ocean, offering up apples, a banana and an egg as offerings. Watch the entire captivating video above.
