Earlier this year, John Paul White, formerly of Grammy-winning duo The Civil Wars, released his third solo album, The Hurting Kind on Single Lock Records. After The Civil Wars folded in 2014, the Alabama native returned focus to his solo career, following his 2008 album The Long Goodbye with 2016's Beulah. Now he's back with The Hurting Kind, an album of tender songs featuring familiar faces like Lee Ann Womack, Jon Radford, Lillie Mae, Erin Rae and The Secret Sisters. White recorded part of the album in Florence, Ala., and it was co-produced by Alabama Shakes' Ben Tanner. White stopped by the Paste Studio on March 22 to preview a few songs from the album: "I Wish I Could Write You A Song," "My Dreams Have All Come True," "The Long Way Home" and the title track.
