Modest Mouse Share the Second Track from Their Record Store Day Release, "I'm Still Here"

Modest Mouse have shared the second single from their Record Store Day release, “I’m Still Here,” on streaming platforms. The track appeared as the b-side to a 7” the band released on Record Store Day last weekend, with the previously released track “Poison the Well” serving as the a-side. The two tracks are the first in a series of installments from the band and mark their first new music in four years.

“I’m Still Here” is a raucous, nostalgic punk-rock cut that finds frontman Isaac Brock speaking words of encouragement to himself in his characteristically pinched, impassioned voice. It has the same frenzied energy as “Poison The Well,” but with perhaps a bit less fuzz and distortion in the mix.

Modest Mouse’s last full-length album was Strangers to Ourselves, which arrived in 2015 on Epic Records. That album marked the end of an eight-year period with no new music from the band, their previous release being 2007’s We Were Dead Before The Ship Even Sank. They also re-released their first two albums, This Is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Think About and The Lonesome Crowded West, on CD and vinyl through Brock’s Glacial Pace label.

Modest Mouse have toured extensively behind in the past few years, and they’re keeping that up in 2019 with a tour with The Black Keys this fall. Listen to “I’m Still Here” and check out Modest Mouse’s full tour schedule below.
