Exclusive: Hear the Title Track from Duo Naked Blue and Author Lee Child’s Jack Reacher Collaboration Album

Bestselling author Lee Child has teamed up with Americana duo Naked Blue to release a Jack Reacher-inspired album. The roots-rock album, titled Just the Clothes On My Back, will be out Nov. 2 through Bluetick Records.

Jack Reacher is an iconic fictional character and the protagonist of Child’s series of crime-thriller novels. Two of the novels have been adapted into successful films, starring Tom Cruise as Reacher.

The album release is set to coincide with the publication of Child’s 23rd Jack Reacher book, Past Tense, out Nov. 5. Child and Jen and Scott Smith of Naked Blue will host a special record release show in New York City at City Winery Loft on Nov. 1.

Just the Clothes On My Back will feature 10 songs that dive deep into Reacher’s complex character.

“Making this record was three things in one for me,” explains Child. “First, intense fun with my friends Scott and Jen, who are two of the nicest people a guy could hope to meet; second, a fascinating peek at how creativity works in a different medium than my own; and third, it gives me an album I can listen to for the rest of my life and think, hey, wow, I had a part in this.”

The folk-pop singer-songwriter team Naked Blue have released six full-length albums, their most recent being 2013’s Weightless.

“We’ve been huge fans of Lee Child’s books for decades, so it was absolutely a dream come true to sit down with this brilliant author, discussing and exploring our favorite character, Jack Reacher, and translating him to songs,” said Jen of Naked Blue. “And yes, it turns out Lee is a hell of a songwriter!”

The album is available for pre-sale, but Paste has the exclusive on Child and Naked Blue’s titular single, “Just The Clothes On My Back.” Listen below.
