Listen to Palehound's Sincere Title Track from Forthcoming Album Black Friday

Ahead of their forthcoming album Black Friday, Palehound have released its hypnotic title track.

Based in mellow synths and a visceral yearning in frontwoman Ellen Kempner’s soft vocals, “Black Friday” captures the rollercoaster of emotional investment in its lyrics: “I don’t hear from you too much / If you need to call me, I’m too weak to hold a grudge.”

The song is “about how fucked up it is that we’re all conditioned to feel we need to compete against others to get what we want. How success is measured in who you’re above and who you’re below,” Kempner said in a statement. “This one is framed through a specific relationship where you feel like you’re investing more into a person than they are in you, and that you feel you need to compete for their attention and love.”

The titular track’s release comes after singles “Killer,” “Aaron” and “Worthy..” Black Friday, which is out June 7 via Polyvinyl Record Co., marks the band’s third studio album and follows their 2017 release A Place I’ll Always Go.
