Pixies Detail New Album Beneath the Eyrie, Sign to New Label

Pixies announced on Monday that their new single, “On Graveyard Hill,” will be featured on their forthcoming album Beneath the Eyrie, set for global release on Sept. 13 later this fall.

The renowned trailblazers showcase their signature punk-infused riffs in the new song. Frontman Black Francis sings of a “witching hour” and impending death, among other morbid themes. The track further highlights Pixies’ iconic and grisly lyricism.

Black Francis (vocals, guitar) and his bandmates, Joey Santiago (guitar), David Lovering (drums) and Paz Lenchantin (bass), have just signed to Infectious/BMG Worldwide. Beneath the Eyrie, will be their seventh studio release and first with the new label.

The subject matter of their new music will encompass everything from spellbinding witches to the pioneer Daniel Boone, according to a press release. Fans can also embrace all things dark by catching them live. Pixies will tour in support of Beneath the Eyrie later this year.

Pixies will join fellow alternative legends The Cure at the Daydream Festival in Pasadena, Calif., in August. The rockers were selected to play a set by Robert Smith, frontman for The Cure. Both bands last played together in 1989, making this festival their first shared performance in 30 years.

Pixies will also notably tour in the U.K., their first time doing so in two years. More dates will be announced on the band’s website in the coming weeks.
