Real Estate have been the reigning kings of guitar-pop in indie rock for about a decade now. And it just so happens that 10 years ago on this day (March 21), they were just beginning their tenure. Real Estate performed a set at the tail-end of South By Southwest week 2009, just ahead of their self-titled debut’s release. And Paste was there to capture it all. Watch the video below.
During the short but impressive set, the band played tracks from Real Estate like “Suburban Dogs” and a soon-to-be-classic, “Beach Comber.”
The band’s most recent release, In Mind, arrived in 2017, and it seems they could have new music on the way in 2019. According to an Instagram post from January, “Album V” is “coming soon.”
Again, you can watch Real Estate’s 2009 set at Club de Ville in Austin below. Further down, hear their 2010 Daytrotter session.
