Since guitarist Thomas Fekete of alt-rock band Surfer Blood died earlier this week at 27, musicians and friends have taken to Twitter to express their sympathies.
Fekete was diagnosed in 2015 with a rare form of cancer called sarcoma. After his diagnosis, he announced that he would be leaving the Florida-based band. He and his wife, Jessica, set up a GoFundMe to help offset medical costs. His band, along with other groups including Yo La Tengo, Real Estate and Guided by Voices, also helped by auctioning off unreleased songs.
