Oregon didn’t have a great summer. The default capital of the Pacific Northwest endured a host of wildfires, climaxing with a shirtless, giggling teen igniting over 50,000 acres of the Columbia River Gorge with a smoke bomb. (The inferno is expected to rage till November.) Those woes don’t even consider a fault line threatening to engulf Portland in its gaping, craggy maw.

Mini-festival Stackstock is just what the state needed:a breezy, low-pressure event that invited a handful of esteemed Portland musicians to head an hour-and-a-half west to Cannon Beach (aka, that place from The Goonies.) Ages and Ages, Pure Company and The Decemberists’ Colin Meloy led an intimate, seaside(ish) evening with plenty of libations, courtesy of Public Coast Brewing Co. Photographer Sean Edgar spent the evening taking pictures, and though the stage was set up inland, he snapped a few portraits of Pure Bathing Culture on the neighboring beach.
