The Rolling Stones can’t get no satisfaction out of retirement. The British septuagenarians are back in the studio, according to a recent interview the band did with BBC 6.
Keith Richards and Ronnie Wood confirmed that the Stones have been cutting a straightforward, blues-tinged album with an eye toward a sort of naturalism—no rehearsing, just going into the studio and seeing what happens. Apparently, the result has been a mix of originals and covers of artists such as Little Walter and Howlin’ Wolf. We suppose when you’re in a band that’s been playing bluesy rock for the past half-century, you can just pull this sort of thing off.
The Rolling Stones haven’t released a fresh studio album since 2005’s A Bigger Bang, though they did record a few new songs for the 2012 compilation GRRR!. They have, however, been touring in the interim, most recently playing a free show in Cuba that more than a million people attempted to attend.
