Watch Tame Impala's Kevin Parker and Theophilus London Perform "Theo Impala" Collab Tracks

Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker and NYC-based rapper Theophilus London previewed their forthcoming collaboration at a show in West Hollywood on Tuesday night.

While the two have a history—Tame Impala produced London’s “Whiplash” back in 2016—their collaboration has largely been a mystery up until now. Just a week ago, London announced via Instagram that he was working with Parker in a cryptic post, informally dubbing the project “Theo Impala.”

Then, just a few days later, London posted again announcing the Peppermint Club show. In it, he noted that tickets had sold out, that Parker would be joining him onstage and that their collab was going to appear on his forthcoming album, BeBey.

The pair played two tracks, one original and one cover, at the show.

Though it’s been three years since Tame Impala’s last album, the first track is sure to make fans of Currents happy. Pairing Parker’s ambiance with London’s energy, it almost feels like a Tame track that’s undergone a hip-hop remix, one that has replaced Parker’s vocals with London’s rap and added a more driving bass line.

The second track is a cover of Steve Monite’s 1984 “Only You,” in which Parker and London amp up the track’s slow-disco vibes and achieve ultimate levels of cool.

(thx for coming everyone, recorded the show on red cam and all the backstage fun and chaos! Let the games begin) #Bebey coming soon
