Description

Kelly Cones, also known as Kelly Mac, is the founding member of sWORD Music, LLC. and one third of sWORD Music Group. Hailing from a small country county Dinwiddie, Va by way of Newport News, Va. His writing/musical interests began and continue to grow, but started during his early childhood years. A writer at heart, he started writing poems, short stories in elementary school, but never saw himself as a rapper .

In high school, Kelly Mac started rapping in a local group but after going to college the group quickly became a thing of the past and he continued on as a solo act. Releasing his first mixtape, "Salute Me Vol.1" he swore that his talent would take him to a world filled with money, luxuries, and fame. But in 2011, after facing the reality of being homeless, he reached out to a God, who he knew his mother depended on, and started to seek His guidance and help, and as a result his faith grew. Now, as a CHH artist, Kelly Mac is better than ever and more importantly using his gifts and talents as a way to lead the youth away from the lies of the industry, while showing that Jesus Christ is the true Shepherd, and displaying His power thru Kelly's music and testimonies. Across the Hampton Roads area and Richmond/Petersburg Region, He has performed at various venues with his group sWORD Music Group, consisting of his "Blood" Brothers - Justin "jroC" Martinez, Antoine "RoyalT" Collier, sister Leslie "Lady Lez" Barrett, and manager Brian "Luck" Hamilton. He was quickly noted for his amazing delivery, ability to engage the audience, and minister musically God’s word. He is also the talent behind the Hampton Roads hit single "Ric Flair" currently frequenting the air waves of WHOV 88.1fm BsidesRadio show.

Kelly has credited influences from Joe Budden, Ludacris, T.I., Dipset, and other hip hop artist - but says that it was artists such as, Andy Mineo, Eshon Burgundy, John Givez that continue to encourage him that the difference makers in music normally have a purpose to live for, which he has personally found in Christ.

Kelly Mac’s goal and the goal of sWORD Music, LLC is to win people/listeners to Christ, while being honest about the struggles of every day life and the imperfections he says that Christ is able to love him thru.
