Lazy Eye

The Oxford Dictionary defines it this way:

Live (adjective): Relating to a musical performance given in concert.

Record (verb): Convert (sound or a performance) into a permanent form for subsequent reproduction or broadcast.

Our original intention was not to create a live album, but to offer people the opportunity to experience the recording of a studio album, inviting small groups of around 15 people to join us in the room. However, it soon became apparent that the energy exchange between artist and audience was an integral part of the performance, to the point where the line between spectator and participant is non-existent.

In the studio the opportunity to capture as close to perfect a performance as possible is realised by the ability to record extra “takes” of a song. It is also common to overdub small sections to “mend” slight errors or undesirable aspects of the music. Given our “live” approach, rather than perfection we searched for the best “feeling” takes to create the album, judging the tracks worthiness by the transient qualities of groove and energy over flawless performance.

Blues is more often a conversation than a monologue.
