Las Vegas Police Union Sends Whiny Letter to NFL, Saying Michael Bennett Lied

Michael Bennett, a defensive end for the Seattle Seahawks, recently had an experience with aggressive Las Vegas police officers after the Mayweather-McGregor fight. The incident occurred after people reported sounds like gunshots and people were fleeing the area in a panic. Bennett was treated shamefully by police officers, taking to Twitter to voice his grievances:

Now, the Las Vegas Metro Police Protective Association has written a letter to the NFL, essentially saying, “nuh-uh, none of that happened, you’re lying”:

Note that he starts the letter by finger-wagging at the NFL for allowing its players to sit during the national anthem, an action within their legal rights and supported by many.

Bennett, in response, has tweeted and retweeted stills from the Las Vegas Police Deptartment’s own footage, which appear to clearly show an object (either a gun or a taser) held by a police officer pointed directly at the back of Bennett’s head while the officer kneels on or near Bennett’s back, just like Bennett said he did.
