For a long time, Instagram was the one tech company who wasn’t eager to jump on the bandwagon of modernized, “flattened” logos.
That all ended last week when the company unveiled a new Instagram logo that features a decidedly flattened look and a slightly embarrassing gradient in the background. It’s safe to say that the new logo and app redesign were met to a mixed bag of reactions, many of which were not positive.
Instagram showed off a video of how they came to the new logo (not the gif above), which showed many different versions of the logo (many of which I would have preferred to the one they chose). However, an assortment of designers have also taken up the call of redesigning the Instagram logo.
Some are slight changes to the new logo that would have really helped it out and some are complete redesigns that take the look in a different direction—but pretty much all of these are better than what’s on our smartphone home screens now.
