This is the New Amazingly Thin Retina MacBook

At its hotly anticipated media event in San Francisco today, Apple revealed its new iteration of the MacBook. The 13.1mm MacBook is super thin and weighs only two pounds (for comparison, the MacBook Air was 17.3mm) with a 12” retina display and 2304 × 1440 resolution.

The thin new laptop, which will be available in gold, space grey and silver, has only has two ports, one for headphones and the other is a USB-C connection, which is for both charging and connecting to other devices. Apple has also done away with the fan from this new MacBook and it will run an Intel Core M processor.

The company was also flaunting its new trackpad, which is more intuitive, less reliant on old fashioned clicking and picks ups on commands much in the same vein as the Apple Watch display. You can still click though but it will require a tad extra force.

The keyboard has been given a slight makeover too with the “butterfly mechanism”, which Apple promises makes typing easier and more fluid while each key will have its own individual LED light behind it.

On the battery front, Apple promises “all-day” but nine hours of web usage and 10 hours of HD video viewing while storage starts at 256GB. It will begin shipping on April 10 and prices will start at $1,299.
