Thanks to the internet, a century-old getaway might be closer than you think. A few days ago, the United States celebrated the anniversary of the National Historic Preservation Act, a law passed in efforts to preserve original charm in historic homes across the country.

Airbnbis joining the party by revealing many historic homes, each more than 100 years old, that are available to the public across the globe.

Highlights include: the century-old Kyoto home designated as a UNESCO World Heritage site; the woodland Massachusetts home from 1800; and the 16th century Scottish castle originally owned by the Brodie Clan.

History never looked so good or felt so cozy.
