Toronto's Best Brunches

There are few things Torontonians love more than Drake and bandwagon jumping on a Blue Jays winning streak. One of those exceptions is lining up for brunch. This mid-morning meal is the one thing that will lure us out of bed early to wait in lines on the weekend. As the restaurant scene in Toronto continues to flourish, so has the city’s penchant for brunch. Local and international chefs have made their way to “The 6ix” to cultivate creative and flavorful menus influenced from cuisine around the world and are adapting these dishes to fit your favorite morning meal. Brunch your way around the city with this list.

1. Fonda Lola

Fonda Lola is a local favorite as it serves up modern Mexican cuisine inspired by authentic recipes, using ethically and locally sourced ingredients. Affectionately named after the owner's grandmother, Fonda Lola has adapted the delicious cuisine of Mexico City for brunch by adding the perfect amount of chipotle spice to your Lola Eggs Benny or tossing some eggs onto their delicious breakfast tacos and hangover chilaquiles.

2. Lil' Baci

With about 10 percent of Toronto's population being of Italian descent, it is no wonder that this city is filled with delicious Italian restaurants. Lil' Baci in Leslieville uses traditional Italian ingredients to make your brunch favorites, like lemon-truffle hollandaise on your eggs Benedict. But their Baci Balls & Eggs are worth the wait--homemade meatballs (available in pork and beef, lamb or turducken) paired with Italian cheese and two poached eggs.

3. Come and Get It

Designed by owner Jon Polubiec, Come and Get It offers customers seven distinct flavor profiles, allowing for meal customization. After moving from their pop-up location on Spadina to their new permanent home on Queen Street just west of Bathurst Street, Come and Get It offers brunch in a way that mixes both savory and sweet flavors in innovative ways, from the Pulled Pork Breakfast Beasturrito to the Canadian classic revamped in a breakfast poutine. The laid-back joint is perfect for weekend unwinding and indulging.

4. Colette Grand Café

If you're looking to splurge, no time is better than over Sunday brunch at Colette Grand Café. This weekly affair boasts a delicious buffet brunch spread that includes Eggs Benedict with smoked salmon and avocado, Challah French Toast, as well as some of the finest patisseries and more. Colette Grand Café transports you from the Thompson Hotel to a charming French bistro complete with floor to ceiling windows, an elegant Paris-inspired dining room and covered terrace in the warmer months.

5. Saving Grace

There is a reason why on even the coldest day devout brunch goers line up down the block for Saving Grace. This quaint Dundas West outpost serves their brunch menu all week long offering guests the choice between their regular menu of crowd favorites like the Gruyère cheese stuffed French toast and a rotating menu of specials made from only the freshest ingredients. With only 20 seats inside this cozy restaurant, the trick is to drop by on a weekday to avoid the wait.
