New on Amazon Prime Video: All the Movies and TV Coming in November

As we move through the month of October and horror rules the day, it’s time to start looking ahead to November—namely, its many new movies and TV shows debuting on Amazon. The streaming service is adding a handful of big-ticket small-screen titles, as well as a quality crop of feature films, so without any further ado, here’s a quick snapshot of the highlights.

Prime Video’s most exciting November addition is an easy call: Mr. Robot creator Sam Esmail’s new psychological thriller Homecoming, starring Julia Roberts in her first turn as a TV series regular, as well as Stephan James, Bobby Cannavale, Sissy Spacek, Shea Wigham, Alex Karpovsky, Dermot Mulroney and Jeremy Allen White, among others. The much-anticipated Prime original series—debuting Nov. 2, directed by Esmail, and adapted from Eli Horowitz and Micah Bloomberg’s acclaimed podcast of the same name—follows Heidi Bergman (Roberts), a caseworker at the Homecoming Transitional Support Center, a facility that helps soldiers like Walter Cruz (James) transition back into civilian life—overseeing Heidi and the facility is Colin Belfast (Cannavale), an ambitious company man whose manic demands indicate questionable motives. Four years later, Heidi has moved in with her mother (Spacek) and started a new life as a small-town waitress, but when a Department of Defense auditor (Whigham) comes to her with questions about why she left the Homecoming facility, Heidi begins to realize the story she has been telling herself is only a small piece of a bigger picture.

Licensed TV titles following Homecoming in November include season one of drama PBS Masterpiece miniseries Little Women (Nov. 20), while other Amazon originals on the way include Beat season one (Nov. 9), Little Big Awesome season 1B (Nov. 9), Patriot season two (Nov. 9), Gymkhana Files season one (Nov. 16), Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny season 1A (Nov. 16), Inside Jokes season one (Nov. 30) and Mirzapur season one (date TBD). And Nov. 20 brings two Prime original specials, Pete the Cat: A Very Groovy Christmas and Creative Galaxy: Arty’s Holiday Masterpiece, if only as a reminder that Christmas, like winter, is coming.

Amazon has some exciting feature film additions on the way in November, as well, none more perversely enticing than 2018’s critically despised, commercially disastrous mob drama Gotti, starring John Travolta as the eponymous Teflon Don. By all accounts, the film, directed by Kevin Connolly (best known as Eric “E” Murphy of Entourage) is one of the best bad movies of the year, earning a “perfect” zero percent score on Rotten Tomatoes (the RT “Critics Consensus” field literally just says “Fuhgeddaboudit”) and becoming one of Film Twitter’s most beloved comedic punching bags by virtue of nonsense like the below:

You can exercise your morbid curiosity when Gotti hits Amazon on Nov. 15. On their way earlier in the month, however, are a number of actual movies, including a big batch of Nov. 1 arrivals: 1988’s Chucky franchise kickstarter Child’s Play, steamy teen seduction drama Cruel Intentions, harrowing psychological-horror film Jacob’s Ladder, Nic Cage-starring arms dealer drama Lord of War, Tony Gilroy’s 2007 fixer thriller Michael Clayton and Oscar-winning Che Guevara road film The Motorcycle Diaries, just to name a few. Following that Nov. 1 influx are Stephen Chbosky’s hit 2017 drama Wonder (Nov. 2), Matthew Vaughn’s gritty comic adaptation Kick-Ass (Nov. 3), Amazon Prime original Coldplay documentary Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams (Nov. 16), acclaimed Alexander McQueen documentary McQueen (Nov. 17), Javier Bardem-led Pablo Escobar biopic Loving Pablo (Nov. 21) and Alexander Payne’s satirical sci-fi dramedy Downsizing (Nov. 24). So in conclusion … Gotti and some also-rans.
