Before Jason Bateman returns to Netflix as his well-known Arrested Development character, Michael Bluth, he’s playing a much darker father.
“Hypothetically, on a scale of one to 10, how difficult would it be for someone to disappear?” he asks in the pulse-pounding teaser above.
From arson to strip clubs to mounds of cash, the first footage from Ozark shows Bateman and his wife, played by Laura Linney (Nocturnal Animals), on the run with their two children in a dangerous new town set in Missouri’s Ozark Mountains.
Bateman will direct, executive produce and star in what will be his first series regular role since the fourth season of Arrested Development. The series was created by Bill Dubuque (The Judge) who writes and executive produces alongside Bateman, Mark Williams and Chris Mundy.
Ozark premieres July 21 on Netflix. Watch the first teaser above.
