Star Trek: Picard Already Renewed for Season 2

Star Trek: Picard has gotten a light-speed renewal for a second season ahead of its series premiere next month, Deadline reports.

The 10-episode first season of the Patrick Stewart-led Star Trek revival will premiere on CBS All Access on Jan. 23, 2020. It seems the second season will follow the same format, and has reportedly been allocated a hefty $20.45 million in California tax incentives. In comparison, the first season was awarded $15.6 million in incentives.

The revival finds former admiral Jean-Luc Picard as a successful winemaker, with his feet firmly on the ground and no clear intention to go anywhere. Given the landscape (or perhaps, starscape?) on which Star Trek takes place, the plot will all but certainly uproot the famed Starfleet leader from his booze-fueled bliss and send him off into space. The guarantee of a second season assures us that Picard and audiences have many new adventures coming their way.

Picard is being produced by CBS Television Studios, Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Michael Chabon (Unbelievable) is an executive producer on the project.

Star Trek: Picard will debut in North America on Jan. 23, 2020, the same day the 2020 Sundance Film Festival launches on CBS All Access. On Jan. 24, 2020, the series will then be available in more than 200 countries and territories, and available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video.
