In the age of Time’s Up and the #MeToo movement, the qualifications for sexual harassment may appear hazily defined. But the unlikely pairing of Donald Glover and Rashida Jones are here to explain workplace harassment in simple, clear terms. Jones directed and Glover narrated an informational cartoon about the dos and don’ts of office behavior for Time’s Up, and you can watch it below, though, as you might expect, the don’ts outnumber the dos.
Glover is a trusty guide as he lists off a number of workplace harassment examples. After citing instances like hugging, complimenting and dating as potential harassment, the Atlanta creator adds in a dash of humor at the end, inviting viewers to visit a website called www.dontpullyourdickoutatwork.obviously (the actual directed website is www.timesupnow.com). Basically, his advice for avoiding harassment at work is not to do anything Michael Scott from The Office would do.
In all seriousness, the video highlights, and clarifies, a number of hot-button workplace issues. Director Jones said of the animated video in an interview with BuzzFeed:
There’s been a lot of discussion about whether that’s even fair to link someone pinching an ass or something off-color at work to an actual assault. I think a lot of people struggle with the connection, because they think it’s dramatic to connect the two. So the PSA is intended to explain that there are these nuanced dynamics that are happening when there’s a power imbalance.
Again, you can watch the Time’s Up clip below. Glover also made the news earlier this week when he performed an impromptu rendition of his hit track “This Is America” at the BET Awards, which you can watch here.
